Research Projects and Architectural Prototypes

The research interests of the institute are geared towards innovative structural morphologies. Especially the focus on biomimetics, timber structures and fibre composites  has been of importance in ongoing research. These aspects are investigated both from a theoretical and a practical point of view, integrating computational modelling and advanced analysis methods together with fabrication and development of full scale prototypes.

The institute is involved in the development of national and international codes and guidelines for the designing and sizing of fibre-reinforced plastics in building structures.
