At the Institute of Building Structures and Structural Design (ITKE) of the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Stuttgart, a research group "Architecture and Timber Construction", consisting of one architect (IBK) and one civil engineer (ITKE), established in 2020 will be continued in a second phase.
The visiting professorships are involved in teaching at the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning as well as in research in the University of Stuttgart's Cluster of Excellence "Integrative Computational Design and Construction for Architecture (IntCDC)".
The students of the faculty's Bachelor and Master programmes should be given a basic understanding of the latest developments in building with wood. The research will produce scientific contributions and innovations for timber construction. The integration into the Cluster of Excellence IntCDC creates nationally and internationally outstanding research conditions. The infrastructure of the two institutes and the Cluster of Excellence is open to the research group by arrangement.
The research group consists of two guest professorships with a salary equivalent to 50% W1, which are to be filled with an architect (IBK) and a civil engineer (ITKE) for an period of 12 months. One position (100%) of a research assistant is assigned to each visiting professorship.
The start of the research group and teaching activities is planned for the winter semester 2024/25.
Interested applicants should have special experience in the practice of designing and constructing wooden buildings and/or a special qualification for scientific work, which is usually proven by the quality of a doctorate.
