We bid a deeply sad farewell to Gerhard Meissner, Academic Senior Councillor at the Institute of Structures and Structural Design.
Gerhard Meissner worked at our faculty for 35 years. During this time, he introduced more than 3400 students to the fundamentals of load-bearing structures, supervised countless student research projects and organised legendary excursions. He was a member of the Faculty Council as a representative of the mid-level faculty and took on numerous tasks in academic self-administration. Gerhard Meissner never placed himself at the centre of attention, but was an absolutely reliable support for the institute, the faculty and all those who sought his advice. He fell ill shortly before his retirement and passed away on 16 December. We bid farewell to a valued colleague and dear friend. Our thoughts are with his wife and children at this difficult time.
