The HygroShell ITECH Research Pavilion has been distinguished with an award for research and teaching. An interdisciplinary team of graduate students from 13 different countries collaborated on the research, design, and fabrication of this innovative demonstrator as part of the ITECH M.Sc. program. With a focus on sustainable alternatives to contemporary practices the team of students and researchers from the institutes ICD (Institute for Computational Design and Construction) and ITKE (Institute of Building Structures and Structural Design) and the IntCDC (Cluster of Excellence Integrative Computational Design and Construction for Architecture) employed computational design methods, material programming and digital fabrication in parallel with physical experimentation to realize the lightweight structure.
The objective of the interministerial initiative Holzbau-Offensive BW is to foster a climate-friendly building culture centered around wood in the state of Baden-Württemberg. This initiative encompasses targeted measures such as funding initiatives, educational programs, and the advancement of digitalization within timber construction practices.
